Dear Pleasantville Families,

As we close the chapter on another remarkable school year, I find myself reflecting on what a privilege it is to serve this community. I am incredibly grateful for the warm welcome and support I have received from our students, families, staff, Board of Education, and community partners – and I look forward to future collaboration.

Over the past year, I have experienced firsthand what makes Pleasantville such a special place. I have seen our students perform on stage, compete in athletics, create incredible works of art, tackle complex scientific questions, support one another through acts of kindness, and achieve milestones both large and small. I have witnessed the dedication of our faculty and staff, whose passion and commitment create meaningful experiences for students each and every day. And I have experienced a community that deeply values its schools and consistently shows up to celebrate and support our children.

As we mark the end of the school year, I want to congratulate all of our students on another successful year of learning and growth.

A special congratulations goes to the Pleasantville High School Class of 2026. We are so proud of all you have accomplished and cannot wait to see the many ways you will continue to make a difference in the world. I would also like to recognize our fourth-grade students as they prepare to begin their middle school journey and our eighth-grade students as they take the exciting next step into high school. These transitions are important milestones, and we look forward to all that lies ahead for each of you.

If you would like to relive these special moments, a photo album of the high school graduation is available on our Facebook page at facebook.com/pleasantvillenyschools. Photo albums of the BRS and PMS Moving Up Ceremonies are coming soon!

Looking Ahead: Strategic Planning

While the school year has ended for students, I am collaborating with our leadership team and Board of Education on a districtwide strategic planning process. While our commitment to the values and priorities that define Pleasantville have never wavered, this process provides an opportunity to reflect on who we are as a school community, celebrate what we've accomplished, and thoughtfully consider where we want to go next. Most importantly, this work must be shaped in partnership with our community.

To that end, you will receive two ParentSquare communications this summer: an online survey and an opportunity to express interest in serving on the Strategic Planning Committee. Both will remain open into the early part of the school year, allowing you the flexibility to participate whenever it best fits your schedule.

I hope you'll take the opportunity to share your voice. Your perspective will help shape the conversations and decisions that guide our district in the years ahead.

A Fresh New Look for PleasantvilleSchools.org

Today also marks another exciting milestone for our district as we officially launch our newly redesigned website (at the same address, pleasantvilleschools.org).

The new website offers improved navigation, a more mobile-friendly experience, and easier access to the information families need most. While we will continue to refine and enhance the site over the summer, we are excited to provide our community with a more modern and user-friendly online experience.
I encourage you to take some time to explore the new site and familiarize yourself with its updated features.

On behalf of the entire Pleasantville Union Free School District, I wish you and your families a happy, healthy, and restful summer. May the months ahead be filled with opportunities to relax, recharge, and spend time with the people who matter most.

Warmly,
Dr. Eric Lutinski
