About the Board

PUFSD Board of Education

The Pleasantville Union Free School District's Board of Education is composed of five school district residents who are elected by voters to three-year terms in the May annual election. Terms are staggered so that one or two members are elected each year.

With schoolchildren always at the forefront of all decisions, the school board works together to accomplish the following:

  • Create a shared vision and set goals for the school district to achieve the highest student performance
  • Oversee the finances of the district
  • Support a healthy school district culture for work and learning
  • Create strategic partnerships with community stakeholders
  • Adopt and maintain current policies
  • Hire and evaluate the superintendent
  • Ratify collective bargaining agreements
