We hope everyone had a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend! 

Please see below for an overview of Tuesday night’s Annual Organizational Meeting and Regular Board of Education Meeting. You can watch the full meeting video here. 

Annual Organizational Meeting 

The Board of Education voted to appoint Michael Busch as President and Erin Ballard as Vice President for the 2025–26 school year. In addition, District Clerk Donna Vitucci and District Deputy Treasurer John Chow were sworn into their roles for the upcoming school year. 

Regular Meeting Highlights 

Protocols for Board/Superintendent Roles 

The Board plans to review the Protocols for Board of Education/Superintendent: Roles and Responsibilities ahead of the next meeting to allow for a focused and meaningful discussion. 

Community Facilities Committee Update 

Assistant Superintendent for Business, John Chow, provided an update on the Community Facilities Committee. He recommended adding building administrators to each subcommittee to help ensure that recommendations align with school-specific needs. Mr. Chow was also asked to prepare a timeline that outlines key tasks, deadlines, and dependencies for a future Capital Project, for the Board to review. 

Revised Policy: Student Representation on the Board 

The Board approved a revision to Policy #1210 – Board Members: Nomination and Election, which now includes a Student Ex-Officio position. The Board looks forward to welcoming student voice into its work in the coming school year. 

Consent Agenda 

All items on the Consent Agenda were approved, including generous donations from community members. We are grateful for your continued support. To review the full agenda, please visit BoardDocs. 

Special Meeting – July 2, 2025 

The Board held a special meeting on the morning of July 2 to appoint Dr. Eric Lutinski as Interim Superintendent of Schools. We are thrilled to officially welcome Dr. Lutinski to Pleasantville and look forward to a year of meaningful collaboration, shared leadership, and continued excellence across our schools. Next Meeting 

The next Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 5, at 7:30 PM in the PHS Library. 

From 6:00–7:00 PM, we invite you to Lemonade at the Library -- a casual summer Meet-and-Greet with Interim Superintendent Dr. Eric Lutinski, taking place before the BOE meeting. Enjoy a glass of lemonade, say hello, and connect with fellow community members and school leaders. We hope to see you there!
